The moon has burnt
The sun has burnt
Burnt up are a million stars
In the middle of the sky, a fire
has broken out!
“No one escapes the flames of lust, anger, avarice, attachment and ego. The whole world burns in them! That’s what Kabir is saying,” explains singer-activist Narayan Singh Delmia with a wry clarity and wit, while smiling broadly.
This song was recorded in a village satsang in Dhunsi, Madhya Pradesh, sung by Ramprasad Atariya and others. Ramprasadji is a farmer and vegetable vendor in Dhunsi village. Seeing him sing and dance to Kabir is both an exhilarating and humbling experience – to recognize the uncomplicated joy he receives and transmits through his being.
