I remember having a daydream about the opening acoustic guitar part of “All Along The Watchtower” ending with a Native American scream and a big native drum on the downbeat. That was the spark to assemble one of our biggest and deepest Songs Around The World. From Beirut to New Orleans to the Lakota Nation, musicians play and sing like a musical army determined to stop suffering and greed all over the world. As a society, we need to get back to our roots and connect deeper with our ancestors and native people in general so we can find the wisdom we need to move forward as a human race. As Jimi Hendrix once said, “If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.”

A Day with Purbayan and Ojas | Audio Jukebox | Music Today

This album is an opportunity to spend an entire day with the Sitar virtuoso Purbayan Chatterjee & Tabla maestro Ojas Adhiya where they introduce us to the eight subdivisions of the day which has its own significance in Indian Classical music.

Music and time are always interconnected. Each Raga is associated with its own time. In this album the maestro takes us through a joyride of different expressions (bhav) at different times of the day which is communicated through the mesmerizing Sitar renditions of different ragas.

Purbayan is considered as one of the finest Sitar players in Indian Classical music and has attained a very special place for himself among the musicians and music lovers around the world.

Ojas, a child prodigy was first discovered by the great Music Director duo Kalyanji-AnandJi and was later nurtured under Guru Shri Mridangraj ji.

Afrika Mamas - Ulwabishi

Afrika Mamas are proud to release their new video 'Ulwabishi' which was filmed outside Durban in South Africa by Quintin White/Vintage Motion Pictures.

‘Ulwabishi’ tells of a man who doesn’t support his family and yet expects to get food when he comes home. Sindisiwe Khumalo wrote this song after observing what is happening around some houses and how some men are too lazy to look for work.

The word ‘ Ulwabishi’ translates as ‘Rubbish’.

‘Ulwabishi’ is taken from the new Afrika Mamas album ‘Iphupho’ (The Dream Song). The album takes its name from the group leader Ntombi Lushaba's dream to take Afrika Mamas' music to the world, with the legendary Ladysmith Black Mambazo as her inspiration. Finally, her dreams came true when they recorded this album in the Durban studios owned by one of the sons of Joseph Shabalala, the lead singer of Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Πάνω από 1.000 παιδιά και νέοι θα περάσουν από τη σκηνή του Μεγάρου Μουσικής Θεσσαλονίκης το τετραήμερο 26-29 Απριλίου 2018, για το 8ο Φεστιβάλ Παιδικών – Νεανικών Χορωδιών. Ο επιτυχημένος θεσμός του Μεγάρου, μια μεγάλη διοργάνωση που προάγει τις αξίες της συνεργασίας, της ομαδικότητας και της συμμετοχής, θα δώσει φέτος βήμα σε περισσότερα από 20 χορωδιακά σχήματα από όλη την Ελλάδα, που θα παρουσιάσουν τη δουλειά τους αλλά και θα συμπράξουν σε ενδιαφέρουσες δράσεις και συναυλίες. Ανοίγει στο κοινό η κινέζικη συλλογή της Αλίκης Τέλλογλου την Παρασκευή 20 Απριλίου

Την Παρασκευή 20 Απριλίου 2018, στις 19.30 στην ιστορική κατοικία του ζεύγους Τέλλογλου, θα δώσει διάλεξη ο δρ. Γιώργης Μαγγίνης, μέλος της εκτελεστικής επιτροπής του Μουσείου Μπενάκη με θέμα «Κοιτώντας προς Ανατολή: Ασιατική τέχνη από τη συλλογή της Αλίκης Τέλλογλου». Την ίδια μέρα θα ανοίξει για το κοινό η έκθεση της κινέζικης συλλογής του Τελλογλείου, μοναδική στη Θεσσαλονίκη, με κινέζικα κεραμικά και μικρά γλυπτά του 18ου, 19ου και αρχών του 20ού αιώνα.

Greece Delos Island of Gods

Birthplace of Apollo.

Delos is a Greek island and archaeological site in the Aegean Sea's Cyclades archipelago, near Mykonos. The mythological birthplace of Apollo, it was a major religious center and port during the 1st millennium B.C. The island's ruins encompass Doric temples, markets, an amphitheater, houses with mosaics and the iconic Terrace of the Lions statues. Other artifacts are displayed in its Archaeological Museum.

According to Greek mythology, Apollo was born on this tiny island in the Cyclades archipelago. Apollo's sanctuary attracted pilgrims from all over Greece and Delos was a prosperous trading port. The island bears traces of the succeeding civilizations in the Aegean world, from the 3rd millennium B.C. to the palaeochristian era. The archaeological site is exceptionally extensive and rich and conveys the image of a great cosmopolitan Mediterranean port.

During ancient times the Cyclades island of Delos was the flourishing centre of Greek culture. Greece's most extensive archaeological site covers the entire island and since 1872 has been frequented by countless archaeologists. Greek legend has it that this now-deserted island was the birthplace of the gods Apollo and Artemis.Offering wonderful ocean views, the amphitheatre dates back to the third century B.C. and accommodated around 5500 spectators. Not all of the island's temples were dedicated to Greek gods and a particularly well-preserved sanctuary of the so-called 'foreign gods' formed part of a beautiful temple that was dedicated to the Egyptian goddess, Isis.The lower plateaus on the western side of Kithos Hill contain numerous important cult sites. One of these sanctuaries was the centre of the Hera Cult, the Archaic Heraion, that established itself in 500 B.C. Beautifully restored mosaics with the Phoenician symbol of the goddess Tanith decorate one of the most impressively furnished houses on the island, the House Of Dolphins. The island's ruins indicate its former cosmopolitan nature with its Egyptian, Italian, Phoenician and Jewish traders but due to the destruction of its buildings and the creation of new centres of trade elsewhere, Delos gradually became deserted.

Στρόβιλοι χρωματικών εκρήξεων, fractals και κοσμογονικές εικόνες, συνθέτουν το «σύμπαν» του Απόστολου Κιλεσσόπουλου, στη νέα του έκθεση που παρουσιάζει το Τελλόγλειο Ίδρυμα στη Θεσσαλονίκη, την Τετάρτη 25 Απριλίου 2018, στις 19.30 στο Τελλόγλειο Ίδρυμα. Τίτλος της έκθεσης «Της Γης και τ’ Ουρανού. Οι κόσμοι του Απόστολου Κιλεσσόπουλου» και διατρέχει όλες τις περιόδους και τους σταθμούς της εικαστικής διαδρομής του σημαντικού δημιουργού, από τη δεκαετία του ’70 μέχρι σήμερα, ενός «συμπαντικού» καλλιτέχνη, σύμφωνα με την Κική Δημουλά. Διάρκεια έκθεσης 25 Απριλίου έως 25 Μαΐου.
