Conjunto Sabrosura delivers an album of mostly original songs deeply inspired by classic New York-style salsa and Cuban son. Moña Pa’ Mi Bongó is the debut album of Conjunto Sabrosura, a superb ensemble based in Puerto Rico, founded by Cuban composer and producer Ihosvany Negret and featuring fellow Cuban Mayte Pérez as lead singer.
The mix of Cuban and Puerto Rican musicians is explosive. This is some of the finest salsa and son I’ve heard in recent years, with captivating songs, a world class vocalist, a knockout brass and rhythm section, memorable tres and cuatro solos and delightful “old time” backing vocals.
