Rakesh Chaurasia is the nephew and disciple of the legendary flautist Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia. Adept at playing the popular and folk music, he is equally at home in the Indian classical genre. In Sona Rupa’s "Mind, Body & Soul" Collection Series, this very gifted flautist has already made his mark on the international scene with Solo and collaborative tracks in various albums.

Despite constant demands by the "Bollywood" industry for his services towards film and stage music, Rakesh has not shied away from his ambition to carve a niche for himself in the Indian classical genre. Over the last few years, he has increasingly accompanied Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia on the international classical stage that has helped to hone his skills further. Now, slowly emerging from the shadows of his illustrious uncle, from whom he has imbibed not only the generosity of spirit and humility but total dedication to his craft, Rakesh Chaurasia showcases his skills in this first-ever classical album.

It is apt that Rakesh Chaurasia's sonorous Bansuri, long associated with Lord Krishna, pays homage to the almighty with the rendering of Raag Hansdhwani

Pandit Bhavani Shankar, the undisputed Pakhawaj maestro and the very talented Tabla Virtuoso, Satyajit Talwalkar, accompany Rakesh Chaurasia.
