Musical Eye-Opener to Refugee Crisis

Various Artists – The Long Road (British Red Cross, 2016)

With proceeds going to the British Red Cross UK Refugee Support Service and with help from the Arts Council England, producer Ethan Johns, engineer Dom Monks and executive producer James Gaster, The Long Road is musical eye-opener to the present refugee and asylum seeker across the globe.

Singer, former Led Zeppelin front man and The Long Road contributor, Robert Plant says, “We have a worldwide international catastrophe – talking about it is one thing, doing something about it is another. The position we are in, it’s paramount we all do our best one way or another to help.”

With just five short tracks, most of the artists compiled for The Long Road have skin in the game from the desert blues group Tinariwen and their founder Ibrahim Ag Alhabib at one time a child refugee himself to the Sierra Leone’s Refugee All Stars who made it a practice to support refugees during the civil war in Sierra Leone to artist and producer Adam Bainbridge who once worked as a Red Cross refugee services volunteer.

As a refugee or a witness to the hardship and devastation refugees and asylum seekers face or simply a person of conscience, The Long Road is all about lending a helping hand through music.

Producer Ethan John says of the project, “I wanted to get involved because I thought this was a story worth telling. This is a very special opportunity to create an album with a narrative that helps more people understand the realities of being a refugee and the journeys that people go through.”

They introduced us to amazing Austrian architecture, majestic mountainous hikes and the all natural food that came from farms and lands all around the villages. We even tasted and learned about schnapps from the most famous breweries. If there is a place to visit, it is Austria!

Πώς διαμορφώνονται οι εποχές στη γη; Πώς κινείται η γη γύρω από τον ήλιο διαμορφώνοντας τα διαφορετικά κλίματα και την εναλλαγή των εποχών; Τα παιδιά αποχαιρετούν τον Μάρτιο και υποδέχονται τον Απρίλιο με πολλές γνώσεις για τις εποχές, αλλά και με την κατασκευή ενός ηλιακού ρολογιού που θα τα βοηθήσει να κατανοήσουν το πέρασμα της γης στην Άνοιξη και το Καλοκαίρι.

Πόσο γρήγορα κινείται η γη; Πώς περιστρέφεται η σελήνη δημιουργώντας τις διαφορετικές φάσεις της; Ένα εργαστήριο πλήρως διαμορφωμένο στα πρότυπα των εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων της NASA, για να ανακαλύψουν τα παιδιά τις διαφορετικές φάσεις της σελήνης και να κατασκευάσουν το δικό τους σεληνιακό κύκλο. 

Κυριακή, 10 Απριλίου 12:30 Τομές λουλουδιών 

Πώς αναπτύσσονται τα λουλούδια; Με ποιο μηχανισμό αναπνέουν και τρέφονται. Πώς ζουν αφού δεν κινούνται; Ένα εργαστήριο για την άγνωστη ζωή των λουλουδιών. 

Κυριακή, 17 Απριλίου 12:30 Τα έντομα και ο κύκλος ζωής τους 

Από αυγό σε κάμπια, κουκούλι και ζουζούνι. Η άγνωστη ζωή των εντόμων στο μικροσκόπιο του Μουσείου Σχολικής Ζωής και Εκπαίδευσης. Ένα εργαστήριο γεμάτο έντομα περιμένει τα παιδιά λίγο πριν το Πάσχα.

"Around U" is a film about crossing the world, filmed in 9 countries and covering 75,000 km over 6 months. Searching for encounters and experiences and further, for that one thing that connects us all, namely the certainty of finding beauty and peace anywhere in the world.

Our humanity is what connects us. Capturing the spirit of people and places one finds while traveling is what drives me and my work.

In my experience, the majority of us are united by the clear desire for freedom and peace.

There is no need for more borders, but for the lowering of them.

και το εστιατόριο Βαρούλκο Seaside, έναν χώρο που διανύει

μία πορεία 30 ετών διαρκούς και επιτυχημένης

παρουσίας στο χώρο της εστίασης.

Χοζοβιώτισσα, η ιερή παρακαταθήκη

Μοναδικό δημιούργημα της αιγαιοπελαγίτικης μοναστηριακής αρχιτεκτονικής, η Παναγία η Χοζοβιώτισσα, η αετοφωλιά της Αμοργού, δεσπόζει σε επιβλητική ορθοπλαγιά, πάνω από τη θάλασσα, σε απόσταση 2,5 χιλιομέτρων ΒΑ από την πρωτεύουσα του νησιού. 

Στο ανατολικότερο νησί των Κυκλάδων, σε ένα βραχώδες τοπίο άγριας ομορφιάς, οι πιστοί κατάφεραν να δαμάσουν τα στοιχεία της φύσης και να αφήσουν πίσω τους ένα θρησκευτικό μνημείο που αποτελεί ιερή παρακαταθήκη.

Σύμφωνα με την επικρατέστερη εκδοχή, η μονή, αφιερωμένη στα Εισόδια της Θεοτόκου, ιδρύθηκε την περίοδο της Εικονομαχίας, τον 9ο αιώνα, όταν έφθασε εδώ (στον ορμίσκο της Αγίας Άννας) από το Xόζοβο (τα Χόζοβα) της Παλαιστίνης, με θαυματουργό τρόπο ή φερμένη από μοναχούς, η εικόνα της Παναγίας, ανακαινίστηκε δε στα τέλη του 11ου αιώνα από τον αυτοκράτορα του Βυζαντίου Aλέξιο Α' Kομνηνό.

This film is a collection of audiovisual moments and memories of a 3-week railway journey through Japan in 2015. We were whizzing through the country with the Shinkansen visiting Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima and Kyoto as well as lots of wonderful little places along the way, meeting the most friendly people and experiencing a culture that somehow balances it’s rich tradition with a very futuristic present.
