Από 23 έως 28 Μαΐου το 17ο Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival
Η Τεχνόπολη Δήμου Αθηναίων, ενώνοντας και φέτος τις δυνάμεις της με τη Στέγη του Ιδρύματος Ωνάση, είναι έτοιμη για άλλη μία μοναδική διοργάνωση. Πρόκειται για το 17ο Athens Technopolis Jazz Festival, που από τις 23 έως τις 28 Μαΐου έρχεται να μας χαρίσει 5+1 μέρες υπέροχης jazz εμπειρίας.

Nadim Karam moved back to his native Beirut in the early 1990s, after years spent studying abroad during the lengthy Lebanese civil war.
The city had been ravaged by shelling and was haunted by derelict buildings. It was emotionally and symbolically divided along the Green Line that had split the city into East and West for 15 years.
Karam, who had studied both architecture and art, saw Lebanon was not only in need of renovation, rebuilding and improved infrastructure but something else a little less tangible – the city and its citizens needed to rediscover a sense of playfulness, unity and imagination.
An exhibition of newly discovered images by social documentary photographer Shirley Baker will take place this summer at the Grundy Art Gallery in Blackpool.
The exhibition titled ‘On the Beach’ takes a look at holidaymakers from Blackpool, one of the most popular and historic English resorts, and juxtaposes these with images from the continental Mediterranean resort of the Côte d’Azur.
The two collections of observational photographs, taken five years apart in the 1970’s, reflect upon the two different seaside settings and explore the cultural backdrop and contrasting behaviours of holidaymakers.
The exhibition takes place at the gallery from Saturday May 20 – August 19 2017.

Ένα νέο teaser trailer για τον νέο κύκλο του Twin Peaks του Ντέιβιντ Λιντς έδωσε στη δημοσιότητα το Showtime, λίγες ημέρες πριν από την πρεμιέρα της σειράς στις Κάννες αρχικά και στη συνέχεια στο τηλεοπτικό δίκτυο.
Πριν από έντεκα χρόνια ο Jean Paul Gaultier παρουσίασε τη συλλογή του «Αφιέρωμα στην Ελλάδα» με δημιουργίες που εμπνεύστηκε από τη χώρα μας. Σήμερα ο Γάλλος σχεδιαστής επιλέγει να στείλει στο Μουσείο Μπενάκη, κεντρικό κτίριο, μια δημιουργία από τη συλλογή εκείνη.
Στο πλαίσιο της Διεθνούς Ημέρας Μουσείων διοργανώνεται τον Μάιο στο Διαχρονικό Μουσείο Λάρισας, η ομαδική εικαστική έκθεση «Περί Υγείας». Διάρκεια έκθεσης 13 Μαΐου – 30 Ιουνίου.
Περισσότεροι από τριάντα καλλιτέχνες δημιούργησαν έργα για το ανθρώπινο σώμα, την υγεία και την ίαση, εκθέτοντάς τα για πρώτη φορά τον Σεπτέμβριο του 2016 στον Αρχαιολογικό χώρο του Ασκληπιείου Επιδαύρου και τον ιστορικό χώρο του Ξενία, με πρωτοβουλία του Σωματείου ΔΙΑΖΩΜΑ και επιμέλεια της Ίριδας Κρητικού.
Μετά την ιδιαίτερα επιτυχημένη έκθεση γελοιογραφίας «Μετέωρο Βήμα», που παρουσιάστηκε πέρυσι στον εκθεσιακό χώρο του Μετρό Συντάγματος, η Λέσχη Ελλήνων Γελοιογράφων επιστρέφει για δεύτερη χρονιά στον ίδιο χώρο με μια νέα έκθεση. Οι επισκέπτες, εκτός από τα έργα 29 Ελλήνων γελοιογράφων, θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να δουν και τις γελοιογραφίες 28 σημαντικών Βρετανών σκιτσογράφων που δημοσιεύουν στις μεγαλύτερες εφημερίδες του Ηνωμένου Βασιλείου. Αφορμή φυσικά το … Brexit αλλά και όλα όσα συμβαίνουν στις μέρες μας στη Γηραιά Ήπειρο.

Στο Μουσείο Μπενάκη ανακοινώθηκε την Τετάρτη 10 Μαΐου 2017 ότι έλαβε το 2017 Experts’ Choice Award, βραβείο επιλογής εμπειρογνωμόνων του TripExpert. Το Βραβείο αυτό αναγνωρίζει τα καλύτερα αξιοθέατα σε όλο τον κόσμο με βάση κριτικές από δημοσιογράφους και επαγγελματίες συγγραφείς ταξιδιών. Λιγότερο από το 2% όλων των αξιοθέατων παγκοσμίως λαμβάνει το βραβείο.

The Acropolis Museum will celebrate International Museum Day on May 18 and European Museum Night on May 20 with free entrance and a series of events for visitors.
Entrance to the museum will be free throughout the day on Thursday, May 18, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. On that day a number of artifacts will be put on display for the first time in the Archaic Gallery, including the exceptional head 696 and other shards of a statue depicting a young woman with a “polos” or headdress. The items are currently in the museum’s store rooms.

Μια από τις αγαπημένες γκαλερί της Αθήνας ανοίγει και πάλι τις πόρτες στις παρουσιάσεις καλλιτεχνών. Πρόκειται για τη γκαλερί Άστρα της οδού Καρυατίδων όπου κατά καιρούς χαρήκαμε ενδιαφέρουσες εκθέσεις. Έναρξη της νέας περιόδου γίνεται με μια ομαδική έκθεση πέντε ζωγράφων που έχουν ένα ακόμη κοινό σημείο, είναι από τους κορυφαίους μας εικονογράφους.
Orchestra Baobab are masters of the African/Afro-Cuban fusion that dominated Senegal's music scene in the Seventies. A fluid mixture of mellifluous guitar and delicious vocals, "Pirate's Choice" was recorded in 1982 shortly before they disbanded, and originally released worldwide by World Circuit in 1989. Repackaged with an extra CD of previously unreleased material, the re-release of this essential record in 2001 prompted a full-scale reunion of the band and they are currently touring Europe and the US.
World Circuit Records have established their reputation by producing some of the finest world music albums of the past two decades, specialising in music from Cuba and West Africa. The label is best known for the GRAMMY winning Buena Vista Social Club album, which is the biggest selling world music album of all time, and led to the phenomenal rise in popularity of Cuban music.

Η εικαστική Έκθεση των Νίκου Κουρούσιη και Λίας Λαπίθη με θέμα «Συμπόσιο 1363 – Ανάθημα 1356», στο Μεσαιωνικό Κάστρο Κολοσσίου διοργανώνεται από το Τμήμα Αρχαιοτήτων σε συνεργασία με τους καλλιτέχνες, το Κυπριακό Τμήμα του ICOMOS και την στήριξη του Κοινοτικού Συμβουλίου Κολοσσίου.

The story of Liang Shanbo and Zhu Yingtai has been a household love story in China for more than 1000 years. The heroine Zhu Yingtai, disguised as a man, becomes bosom friends with Liang Shanbo, a classmate of hers for 3 years. Before returning home, Yingtai implies to shanbo that she will be his wife. Knowing that Yingtai is woman, the delighted Shanbo hurries to her home, only to find that her family has betrothed her to someone else against her will. Under the pressure of the patriarchal clan rules and feudal ethics, they die for love and return into a pair of butterflies. The moving tragic legend extols pure love and freedom of love. First appearing in the early Tang Dynasty, the story was put on the stage in the Song and Yuan dynasties, and plays based on the story was widely performed during the Ming and Wing dynasties. The story has been handed down to this day in manifold forms
